Uncovering Lies and Unveiling Memories in

St. John’s, NL

Mystery in Newfoundland, Canada

February 25, 2019

When I found myself in need of a new challenge, I decided to write and submit a short story for a themed anthology of short stories. The unique province of Newfoundland caught my attention as a place deserving of my dramatic story's setting.

When a garden gnome is kidnapped,

he must learn the meaning of courage and friendship in Rome, Italy.

The Traveling Gnome- Book 1: Kidnapped in Rome

February 25, 2019

In Book 1 of the children’s book series The Traveling Gnome, a timid garden gnome with a big heart is kidnapped from his home by a group of kids and taken to Rome, Italy. It takes all of Alfie’s self-control to keep his existence a secret from the well-meaning kids who think of him only as a delicate ceramic figure to keep from breaking. But they find out soon enough that their photo prop isn’t just garden decoration. Alfie and the kids battle Roman traffic and pickpockets and learn the meaning of bravery when everything goes terribly wrong. Can Alfie forgive his new friends for taking him from his cozy home? Will he admit that his adventure of a lifetime was worth it?

The final draft of this book is currently undergoing final editing. Stay tuned! Thank you for reading.

When Alfie is kidnapped again,

he is surprised that he still has some life lessons to learn in the city of London, England.

The Traveling Gnome- Book 2: Mistaken in London

April 17, 2017

The most exciting thing about a writing series is that the story does not end with the first book. In book 2 of The Traveling Gnome, the kids decide to take Alfie on their trip to London.

Alfie’s is starting to get used to leaving home and though he won’t admit it, he’s even a little excited to see the new city. When the group visits a museum, Alfie is devastated when they discover a fellow garden gnome who is stuck on display in the terrible place. Alfie and the kids jump at the chance to save the tired, old garden gnome from a life of misery. The only problem is, they forgot to ask him first. What follows are the hysterical twists and turns of a well-meant rescue gone terribly wrong. How could such gallantry be so misplaced?

Alfie and the kids must reverse their mistake and in the meantime, they learn that happiness and family come in all forms.

Stay tuned for excerpts from the first draft of Book 2!

As always, thanks for reading.
