One Thousand Days

October 6, 2017

One thousand days of JOY,
Hold tight, the memories teach.
Each one brings you close to me
Yet you’re still so far out of reach.

One thousand days of LOVE,
Poured over as treasure found,
Assure me of our happy past
And keep us forever bound.

One thousand days of SORROW,
When the end of each arrived,
Remind me of the kisses past,
That you and I most enjoyed.

One thousand days of TEARS
For precious times I will miss,
Are hidden from you, of course,
For children must live in bliss.

One thousand days of HOPE,
Carried deep, like secret guides,
Anchor fast when overwhelmed
By the weight of changing tides.

One thousand days of WISHES,
Born from your mother’s heart,
Know that they are yours to keep,
And they’ll never let us part.

Poetry

When I cannot properly transpose my thoughts into speech, I write poetry. Sometimes it's dark, sometimes it's deep. But every time, it's honest.
